Word of the Week January 22-26
Our new word of the week is NOTION. The definition of notion is-- a concept, an idea, or a belief about something. It can be understood as a basic idea about a topic, or a general understanding. For example, most of us have a general notion of how computers work, but most of us would not be able to build a computer from parts.
If we say someone has no notion of something, it means they don't understand the concept. For example, little children have no notion of time, and they don't understand why adults are always rushing.
It can also be used to replace the word "idea." For example, we can say, "I have no notion why he decided to bring his cat to school!"
It works in many more ways, but you probably already have a notion! Now challenge yourself to use it this week in your assignments or conversations!
